It’s less than one month until the annual Sandy Springs Festival! Now in its 26th year, the Festival has grown from a small picnic to a major event drawing over 20,000 attendees and was voted “Best Festival” on Access Atlanta’s “Best of the Big A.” The Sandy Springs Festival is the primary fundraiser for Heritage Sandy Springs, a non-profit organization dedicated to building community through preserving and promoting the historic and cultural identity of Sandy Springs. Features of the Festival include the Doug Kessler Lightning 5K/10K race, a juried Artist’s Market, Business and Civic Expo, a Children’s Park, Collector’s Car Show, Kiwanis Pet Parade, Heritage Crafters, Live Entertainment, Food Court, Whole Foods Heritage Homegrown Market, Saint Joseph’s Hospital Health & Wellness Area, and more.
Runners will want to go ahead and register now for the 5K or 10K in order to save some money. The 10K and 5K entry fee is $20 if received by Thursday September 1st; then the price increases to $25 if received by Thursday September 15th, and $30 if received after the 15th or Race Day.
As for the pet parade, you can register in advance or on Saturday, September 17th before the parade begins. Awards will be given in the following categories: Most Unusual, Most Colorful, Best Dressed Owner & Pet, Best Large Pet, Best Small Pet and Best Pet of Show. This is the perfect opportunity for all of the proud pet owners to show off your canines and get some well-deserved recognition. Read more
