Yes, we are aware that, sadly, the Braves are not part of the postseason games this year, but Atlanta is home to fans of almost every team in MLB. So, there will be many, many Atlantans searching for the perfect spot to watch the Rangers and the Cardinals battle it out in the 2011 World Series. What is the best sports bar in Atlanta? The Taco Mac, formally Frankie’s, located at the Prado here in Sandy Springs.

While currently, the Prado Taco Mac is one of 23 Taco Mac properties in the Atlanta area, it is still one of the largest sports bars you’ll find anywhere. They have over 100 beers on tap, and they still have a huge menu for any type of appetite. Whether sports season or not, this Prado location is always busy, but the important sporting events, like the World Series, tend to draw an even bigger crowd. So, come early and stay late. The Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce, the city of Sandy Springs and the Sandy Springs Hospitality Board have teamed up to start a campaign to boost business in the Roswell Road corridor and neighboring commercial centers.

“Higher-end retailers and restaurant owners tell us that Sandy Springs residents will go to Lenox, Phipps or Perimeter malls to shop and Buckhead to eat rather than support similar businesses on Roswell Road,” said incoming Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber chairman Rusty Paul.

Eat, Stay, Shop Sandy Springs encourages area residents and visitors to use the city’s retail and commercial outlets. The partners want to counter the notion Roswell Road is a traffic-cluttered area with outdated retail strips to be avoided.

City infrastructure and signalization improvements have trimmed Roswell Road commute times, and improvements coming to the Interstate 285 interchange later this year will help, the partners said in a statement. The Mainstreet Alliance is organizing Roswell Road property owners and working with the city on a downtown redevelopment plan to upgrade the corridor’s aging strip retail centers.

“To bring it all together, we simply need local residents to rethink Roswell Road and give some preference to its local businesses,” Paul said. “Even with improving conditions, Roswell Road has a lingering image problem.”

The Sandy Springs/Perimeter Chamber of Commerce wants Sandy Springs businesses to display the Eat, Stay, Shop Sandy Springs logo. And the Sandy Springs Hospitality Board will incorporate the Eat, Stay Shop Sandy Springs theme in certain regional and national marketing programs.

Sandy Springs is about to welcome a new restaurant to the scene. Cibo e Beve is the newest installment from the folks that have brought us Food 101 and Meehan’s Public House. With two successful restaurants under their belt, we can be assured that Cibo e Beve will be held to the same high standards and quality as we have come to expect.

Cibo e Beve literally means “food and drink” in Italian, which is an appropriate name since, come July, the restaurant will be serving up authentic Italian food and beverages. The state-of-the-art facility will boast two cooking class studios, each having the latest and greatest kitchen appliances from Wolf and Viking ranges and ovens to SubZero refrigerators.

Hal’s Kitchen is dedicated to providing an unprecedented experience to those who seek culinary adventure, would like to enhance their current skills, or are looking for a fun, alternative form of entertainment. After much anticipation, Double Zero Napolentana has finally opened its doors to the public to become the newest restaurant in Sandy Springs. The latest installment from the Castellucci Hospitality Group, Double Zero boasts certified, authentic Neopolitan pizza that is cooked in Ferrara ovens from Naples in addition to other southern Italian dishes from Chef John Coley. Along with cuisine from the Campania region of Italy, Double Zero’s extensive wine list and Barrel Aged Negroni cocktails are sure to impress. One thing restaurant goers are mentioning by name is the signature starter that is meant for sharing called “The Roast.” It’s a 1.5 pound pork shoulder served in cast iron alongside six accoutrements and a thin, pita-like bread made from pizza dough. The dough is baked at 1000 degrees in the aforementioned ovens to use for scooping up the pork and other goodies.

The grand opening of Double Zero was recently held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011. By making plans to the visit the new establishment this weekend, you will be among the first to try the authentic Neopolitan cuisine, and we would love your personal opinions and feedback below. Meehan’s Public House is one of the only Irish restaurants in the city of Sandy Springs. With St. Patrick’s Day rapidly approaching, you are no doubt making plans to celebrate. While an Irish restaurant and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day go hand in hand, don’t overlook the Shamrock & Roll event that takes place a week before the holiday. On Saturday, March 12, 2011, Dave FM, Ed Kowalzcyk (performing LIVE as well as solo hits) and other musical acts including U2 tribute band will be at Meehan’s Public House for the third annual, and best yet, Shamrock & Roll event.

The event begins at 2:00 pm, but the bar opens earlier than that and all attendees who arrive before 2:00 pm get free admission to the event. As a patron, your day will be filled with exceptional live music, a variety of drink specials, fantastic food and a whole lot of fun. The seafood bar is the latest from Sandy Springs restaurateurs Nik Panagopoulos and Arte Antoniades, who you will know for their established Mexican joint, Teela Taqueria. Once you step through the front doors, the bright, tropical colors and fish decor will make you feel like you’re on a beach vacation, despite the fact you are actually in City Walk at Sandy Springs.

In addition to the fun atmosphere, patrons will be happy to find an expansive menu that includes many seafood favorites as well as some fare for the land lovers. The football season is nearing an end, and it’s bittersweet. On the one hand, America’s favorite sport season is coming to a conclusion, which means Saturdays and Sundays will be a little less exciting. However, it also means that the most anticipated games of the season, the bowl games, are just around the corner. Next to being at the game in person, gathering a group of friends and heading to the local sports bar is just about the most enjoyable way to view your favorite teams. So, with the bowl games just ahead, Yahoo! published an article naming the top sports bars in North Metro Atlanta, and three of the top five are located in Sandy Springs.

Taco Mac came in as the number one place in Atlanta for football fans to spend their Saturdays and Sundays. Yes, there are quite a few locations throughout the metro Atlanta region, but the flagship Taco Mac is situated in the Prado in Sandy Springs. The other two Sandy Springs restaurants to make the list are Loco’s and the North River Tavern.
