The time has come for Sandy Springs residents to support the local arts. As you know, Act 3 Productions is the professional-level community theater group located right here in our own backyard. Every season, they delight us with amazing performances of some of the most beloved plays and musicals. Well, after many years, Act 3 Productions will proudly present a Readers Theater performance of its first-ever original musical, By Wheel and By Wing.
Under the supervision of playwright and composer, Corey Jan Albert, the play was created by nine local students from Galloway, North Springs, Paideia, Riverwood, Roswell and Walton high schools. It tells the remarkable true story of the Parnes family, who fled their native Poland during World War II. Many years later, the entire family made it to the United States, where they have since prospered. Descendents of two of the seven children who fled Poland now reside in the Atlanta area.
Readings will be presented at the Act 3 Playhouse, 6285-R Roswell Road, N.E., Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328, on Thursday, May 12 and Saturday, May 14 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults.
On Sunday, May 15, a special benefit performance for Act 3 Productions will be held at 3 p.m. at Temple Sinai, followed by a dinner and dessert reception with the show’s creative team, cast and members of the Parnes family at a private home. Tickets to the benefit performance and reception are $75 each. Temple Sinai is located at 5645 Dupree Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30327, www.templesinaiatlanta.org. All tickets may be purchased at www.act3productions.org or by calling 770/241-1905.
